      A. Labor Policy 

We believe in fair and equitable employment. Hence, we have developed a Labour Policy at which our employment policies and practices are complying to:


 Free Choice of Employment


• We are not using and we will never use, under any circumstance, forced, bonded (including debt bondage) or indentured labour, involuntary prison labor and also will not allow slavery or trafficking of persons


 Non-Discrimination in Employment


• All respects of employment in the company will be based on equal opportunity regardless of race, color, age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, pregnancy, religion, political affiliation, union membership or marital status


• Medical tests will not be conducted for discriminatory purposes


 Non-exploitation of Child Labour


• We do not employ nor will under any circumstances to employ children under age of 16. If a young worker between the age of 16 to 18 years is employed, we will ensure that they will not work at night or in hazardous environment


 Freedom of Association


• We recognise the rights of all employees to associate themselves and engage in collective bargaining process pursuant to local labour practices


• We recognise and encourage open communication between workers and management regarding working conditions without fear of reprisal, intimidation or harassment


 Compliance of Local Laws and Regulations


• We are committed to comply with all laws & regulations with regard to wages, working hours and employees’ benefits


 Humane Treatment


• We do not use nor will tolerate any forms or threats and inhuman treatment including sexual harassment, sexual abuse, corporal punishment, mental or physical coercion or verbal abuse of our workers

      B. Code of Ethics          

In order to help our employees to act in accordance with the company primary values and ethical standards, we have developed an employee’s code of ethics:


1) To comply with laws, rules and regulation;

2) To maintain confidential, proprietary information;

3) To have no conflict of interest;

4) Fair dealing;

5) No insider trading;

6) Cannot accept gifts, bribes and kickbacks in dealings with stakeholders.

      C. Sedex Smeta Compliance          

We are member of Sedex since year 2012. Joining Sedex allows us to implement supply chain management globally with a standardised procedure and practice human rights due diligence. It also helps us to manage our ethical and sustainable sourcing activities and to enhance our supplier management to enable us to build stronger business relationships.

      D. Training and Developing our Employees          

We are committed to recruit, employ and promote employees on the sole basis of their qualifications and ability required for the work to be performed. We recognised that one of the cornerstones of our success is our employees and we are committed to invest in our people. We believe that having a highly motivated, well trained and engaged set of employees is crucial to the enduring success of our corporation.


We will also ensure that our employees are developed to their fullest potential and talent, and their competencies are fully recognised and rewarded. Department heads continuously assess and evaluate their subordinates to ensure that there is a structured career development in accordance to their potential, talent and competencies. We strive to provide all employees with career and personal development opportunities and to promote a continuous learning through training and development, job rotations and overseas assignments. We continuously recruit fresh graduates from reputable universities worldwide to be part of our team. As we prefer to promote from within, there is a high priority to developing enough leaders for the future.

      E. Health and Safety          

Mewah aims to provide each employee with a safe place to work. All group locations are required to abide by local health and safety regulations. We conduct regular work risk assessments, vigorously taking action to address any identified risks by setting up protective guidance, employing the usage of personal protective equipment, embarking on work sites audits and inspections, as well as regular reviews and controls of safety risks. Every facility also aims to have a safety week once a year to ensure that all employees have a heightened awareness of safety. We strive to achieve zero loss work day due to work place accidents.


All our refineries have adopted the latest OHSAS (International Occupational Health and Safety Management System) guidelines with the objective to build a demonstrably sound occupational health and safety workplace. Our subsdiary, Mewaholeo Industries Sdn Bhd was the first company under Mewah Group to be certified with OHSAS 18001 in February 2010. All our refineries have the quality management system ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and HACCP in place. Additionally, Mewah Oils Sdn Bhd and Mewaholeo Industries have been certified for food safety with FSSC 22000.
